Notion MCP splits search: notion-search for your workspace, notion-connector-search for Slack, Drive and GitHub
On October 20, 2026 Notion changed its hosted MCP server so notion-search only searches Notion pages and databases. A new notion-connector-search tool covers connected sources like Slack, Google Drive, GitHub, mail and calendar, and takes a sources parameter. notion-ai-search is now hidden from tools/list but still callable.
Bring your own AI to Notion: use a ChatGPT plan to pay for Notion AI, and BYOK for Enterprise
Notion now lets ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Go subscribers connect their plan to their personal Notion Agent, so AI usage in Notion runs on their ChatGPT subscription with no markup. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) is in alpha for Enterprise. Custom Agents are not included yet.
Notion AI credits explained: Standard vs Select, and what changes on November 2
Notion now meters all AI usage with credits. Each Business and Enterprise seat gets 1,500 Standard credits a month (Notion picks the model) and 500 Select credits a month (you pick the model or run Custom Agents). New workspaces are on it now; existing workspaces move on November 2, 2026.

Notion rebuilds its agents: 24-hour tasks, a cheaper Auto model router and "Review for me"
On October 19, 2026 Notion shipped a rebuilt agent harness. Notion Agent and Custom Agents can now work on a single task for more than 24 hours (up from five minutes), a new Auto router picks the model per task at roughly 90% lower cost, and a "Review for me" mode checks risky actions before they run.
Notion MCP adds delete, comment, backlink, group and calendar tools
Between October 13 and 16, 2026 Notion's hosted MCP server gained tools to delete and restore pages and databases, edit and resolve comments, list backlinks and permission groups, and read and manage calendar events. Partial page edits now apply what matches and return warnings instead of failing.
Notion 3.8: Context for your agents, everything in the release
Notion 3.8 (October 13, 2026) turns Notion into a context layer for AI agents. It lets any MCP-compatible agent read and update your workspace, connects Notion's own agents to 150+ tools, syncs Skills to other agents, and adds column permissions, rebuilt synced databases and an upgraded version history.
Notion adds column permissions: control who and which agents see each database property
Since Notion 3.8 (October 13, 2026), database owners can set which properties each person or agent can view or edit. It means one database can hold sensitive fields, like compensation or restricted customer data, without splitting it into separate databases.
Notion agents can now connect to 150+ tools over MCP, with a redesigned Connections page
Since Notion 3.8 (October 13, 2026), Notion Agent and Custom Agents can pull context from and act in 150+ tools through MCP connections, including HubSpot, Stripe and Cloudflare. A redesigned Connections page lets you browse tools by category, and admins can restrict connections to Notion-verified tools.
Notion rebuilds synced databases, starting with GitHub, Jira and Salesforce
Notion 3.8 (October 13, 2026) shipped rebuilt synced databases for GitHub, Jira and Salesforce. Syncs are faster and more reliable, each shows a live health status, and you can add your own properties, create views and trigger automations on synced data.
