Notion MCP adds delete, comment, backlink, group and calendar tools

TL;DR

Between October 13 and 16, 2026 Notion's hosted MCP server gained tools to delete and restore pages and databases, edit and resolve comments, list backlinks and permission groups, and read and manage calendar events. Partial page edits now apply what matches and return warnings instead of failing.

October 13

  • notion-delete-pages and notion-delete-databases, up to 20 at a time. Both need the update content capability. Restore with notion-restore-pages.
  • Comment tools: notion-update-comment, notion-delete-comment, notion-set-discussion-resolved and notion-set-comment-reaction. Business or Enterprise plan required.

October 14

  • notion-list-page-backlinks lists pages in the same workspace that link to or mention a page or database.
  • notion-get-groups lists the permission groups a user can see.
  • Search accepts filter_properties, so results can include only the properties you need.

  • Calendar tools for reading schedules and managing events, on all plans, through user-authorized connections.
  • notion-update-page accepts update_properties with only icon, cover or is_skill.

Behaviour changes worth knowing

  • Partial edits: update_content (REST and notion-update-page) now applies the edits that match and reports misses in warnings (no_match, indentation_mismatch). It fails only if no content-changing edit matches. In August these edits were all-or-nothing.
  • Fewer hard errors: notion-create-pages and notion-update-page report property auto-fixes as warnings rather than validation_error.

Why it matters

An external agent connected to Notion can now do the full lifecycle of workspace upkeep: find what links to a page, tidy comments, archive stale pages and restore them if needed. Calendar access on all plans means agents like Claude or ChatGPT can plan from your schedule and your Notion docs in the same session.

Deletion is the one to govern. Check which connected tools have the update content capability before agents start cleaning up.

Can Notion MCP delete pages?

Yes. Since October 13, 2026, notion-delete-pages deletes up to 20 pages per call and notion-delete-databases up to 20 databases. Deleted items can be restored with notion-restore-pages.

Can AI agents read my calendar through Notion MCP?

Yes. Notion added calendar tools for reading schedules and managing events on October 16, 2026. They work on all plans through user-authorized connections.

Use notion-list-page-backlinks, added October 14, 2026. It lists pages in the same workspace that link to or mention a page or database.
